Last week we went to Pancuito for date night…
Fabulous Italian food sourced from local ingredients. Hard to beat.
This week I also wanted to try something new. I had heard fab reviews about Kitchen and loved the story of the restaurant. When I saw they had mussels on the menu, I was sold. Date night would be at French eatery, Kitchen.
I heard a rumor that they don’t take reservations, so we just showed up and hoped for the best. We snagged two seats at the bar and looked over the menu. The bartender promptly came over and explained the specials.
I really couldn’t think of eating anything except mussels, especially after reading the reviews on Yelp. Everyone raved about their signature dish.
Decisions, decisions…

I got the Thai mussels and a glass of prosecco to compliment the spiciness of the meal.
I was in heaven. In my opinion, this meal was perfect.
Speaking of delicious meals, I have been on a bit of a Mexican breakfast kick.
Black beans, veggies, a runny egg plus avocado. So, so good.
The avocado and egg combo is insane. I guess it’s a bit high in fat, but it’s healthy fats (that’s what I keep telling myself). I have been using smashed avo as my “butter” on a sandwich thin with an over easy egg. Egg white puff with on the side for extra protein.
I always think of Avocado as Mexican (or Californian)…but I guess that’s not really the case anymore. Avocados are commonly eaten in South Africa, but Mexican food is not. One way I was surprised to see avocado served in South Africa was on Pizza! It’s simply sliced on after cooking.
Avocado Facts HERE. I love that 43% of US Households buy avocados! They are so versatile and I love seeing them used in different types of dishes.
Shellfish? Love it or Hate it? The last couple years I have been obsessed.
Favorite Non-Mexican way to use avocado? I love the combination of sprouts and avocado on a sandwich or salad. I have seen it used in sweet dishes, but I have yet to try it.
